First Time Blogger – Blogger.com VS WordPress

Hey Guys, I’ve had a pretty rubbish past few days with work and what not, seeing as i felt so drained i gave myself a little time away from everything including blogging. But i always feel much better when i’m writing stuff down so i thought i’d let you all know about my experience of starting up my own blog and thoughts on WordPress and Blogger!

Blogger.com VS WordPress

When i first started my blog i didn’t do much research on blogging platforms (which i probably should have) and just jumped right in there with the first one i heard about which was blogger.com, which i had noticed a lot of other bloggers using. I originally thought yeah this is great, i got all set up then got to the stage of finding a better template/layout for my blog (all i wanted was something simple and easy to read/use) so i spent a fair while trying to figure it all out and finally found a few free ones that i liked the look of! so i set about setting the template, now i’m not amazing with computers, but i do know a fair bit (including a little code – YAY ME) but even i had trouble trying to get these free templates to do anything i wanted them to! In the end i finally found an extremely basic template that would do some of the things i wanted it to do, then i went about doing a few posts. In my opinion the Blogger.com is pretty complicated, especially for first time bloggers and those like me who don’t want to spend hours trying to get things to work!

After having such a horrific time trying to use blogger i did some digging and came across WordPress, this time around i did a little research on the site and had a good think about moving all of my blog over (which i eventually did). From the word go i found WordPress ALOT simpler than i had found blogger.com, now i’m not sure if it was because i kind of had an idea of what i was doing or it was down to the pure simplicity of the site itself (i say this in a good way!). Everything is much more user friendly and you can even get a handy app to download on your phone/ipad/tablet! I found it much easier to find other blogs/ follow/ like and comment on their posts once i started using wordpress too. And most of all i found it much easier to choose and customise templates and layouts!

Overall i would highly recommended wordpress to any bloggers and blogger.com to those who like something a little more complicated and have the time to work  on their blog!
